Scot McGuire-Band Director
Scot McGuire, a South Carolina native, received his Bachelor of Music Education
from Winthrop University and his Master of Music in Conducting from Southern
Oregon University. Mr. McGuire is a National Board Certified Teacher.
Mr. McGuire has
served as Concert Festival Site Chairman for the South Carolina Band Directors
Association, Fine Arts Department Chair and SACS-CASI Internal Facilitator for
Andrew Jackson High School, Assessor for the National Board for Professional
Teaching Standards, and Conference Presenter for the Olde Englsih Consortium.
Mr. McGuire also serves as Orchestra Director at First Baptist Church in Rock
Hill, SC.
Mr. McGuire began
his tenure at Andrew Jackson in 2004 and immediately led the Volunteer Regiment
to its first ever appearance at the South Carolina state marching band
championships where it earned a ninth place finish. Since then, Mr. McGuire has
fostered a high level of musicality in the Andrew Jackson bands from grades six
through twelve in the marching, concert, chamber and jazz arenas.
Mr. McGuire resides
in Rock Hill, SC with his wife Kerri, their daughter Chloe and their dog Maggie.
Kim Benton-Color Guard
Kim
Benton received a BCA in Dance Education from the University of North Carolina
at Charlotte. She has been teaching dance for over 25 years in private studios
and public schools. She previously taught at Charlotte Catholic High School
where she created the Charlotte Catholic Showcats performing dance team. Mrs.
Benton has also owned her own dance studio. Her students have performed for the
Radio City Rockets and the Harlem Globetrotters.
Mrs. Benton is married to
Scott Benton and has one son, Cooper. They live in Monroe, NC. This is her third
year with Andrew Jackson.
Jonathon Harris-Percussion
Mr. Harris graduated from Winthrop University
with a degree in Music Performance. He studied with Dr. B. Michael Williams. His
studies have led him to play drum set, orchestra percussion instruments, and
other ethnic percussion instruments. He also has four years experience as a
marching percussion performer.
Mr. Harris has
spent several years teaching privately and in public schools. He is a member of
the Percussive Arts society. He resides in Rock Hill, SC where he also works
with the Winthrop University Wesley foundation.
Antron Rearden-Woodwinds
A native of Columbia South Carolina,
AntronRearden graduated from Keenan High School and Brevard College (now Brevard
University) in Brevard, NC where he studied saxophone, flute, and clarinet with
Lloyd Weinberg and Dr. David Kirby. During this time he also studied under
world renowned classical saxophonist James Houlik. .
Mr. Reardon received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Winthrop University where
he studied with Dr. Phil Thompson. He is a member of MENC and Phi Mu Alpha. Mr.
Reardon has toured with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and has played with the Four
Tops, The Temptations, The O’jays, Skeeter Brandon and Highway 61. Mr. Rearden
is currently playing fulltime with the Fabulous Kays.

Gordon
Hann-Brass
Gordon Hann holds a Bachelor of Music in trumpet
performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM).
His private trumpet instructors have included Alan Siebert-CCM, Bill
Adam-Professor Emeritus of IU Bloomington, Tom Booth-Dallas Symphony, and David
Daugherty-Charlotte Symphony. From 1999 to 2006 Mr. Hann was Principal Trumpet
with the Western-Piedmont Symphony (Hickory, NC). With that orchestra he has
performed as a soloist. He has served as a substitute for the Charlotte and
Charleston symphonies. He has been a freelance musician in the greater Charlotte
area since 1998.
Mr. Hann
has instructed brass students at Limestone College, Queens University, and
Wingate University as well as aspiring musicians in Charlotte. Mr. Hann is most
at-home performing for the glory of God, to whom all his work is dedicated
whether in area churches or in the public square.
